Museum Trip (Zayden)

Last Friday we went to the museum. There were six people in my group. We left from school on the bus at 9:00am. The weather was sunny but a cool breeze was blowing.
First, we had our morning tea. Then we put our bags away and we went to the Antarctic area. I like riding on the snowmobile.
Next we went outside to climb trees and have lunch.
After lunch we sat down and did a Kiwiana puzzle. We also went into the Paua House to do a quiz.
At the end Anthony told us a story about Māori myths.
It was a fantastic day.

Robot Racing

Year fives are getting an opportunity to learn about robots with Carol. It looks like a lot of fun.

Museum Trip (Ethan)

Last Friday the middle school went on a field trip to the Canterbury museum by bus.
First we got to explore the museum, Ben and I went around at a "million miles hour" and  saw every inch.
After that we went out for morning tea by the fountain. I tried to fish for 20c, but to no avail. When we got back inside we learned about the things kiwis have and eat.
Then we went to the Paua house which was the home of Fred and Myrtle, and learned their favourite shell.
After that we went outside for lunch and Zeke climbed over the fence and got the 20c before me! When we got inside Anthony told us some legends about Maori culture, and gave us some time to check out the gallery. All in all it was a great day at the museum.

Museum trip (Libby)

On a rather tiring Friday room five, six, and nine went to the fact learning Canterbury musuem! In my group I had five members including our parent helper Sophia. The bus picked us up at 9 am sharp. It was pretty loud on the bus, people were talking, laughing and the noise level was very high. Once we were dropped off we stopped for a quick snack. The weather was stunningly sunny with a light winter breeze or two but it was good weather over all.

First we explored the museum like stomping elephants. We explored the old Christchurch street, the discovery room, and the Antarctica room. Most of us went on the Penny Farthing which is an old bike.

Next we met Merissa and she took us to Fred and Myrtle's Paua house. I enjoyed watching the video about the house in Bluff but I especially enjoyed searching through their house and looking for special paua shells.

After that we listened to Anthony (my cousin) tell us oral stories about how New Zealand was formed and how the sky father (Ranginui) made the sky. We also did a quiz about how you identify myths, legends, and oral history stories.

I thought the museum was great. I learnt lots about oral history, kiwiana, and lots of other different facts. It was extremely fun.

Museum Trip (Sophie W.)

Last Friday we went to the Canterbury Museum. There were four people in my group including our awesome parent helper Liz. The bus picked us all up at exactly 9:00am, and dropped us off to the museum. When we got to the museum the weather was nice but with a light breeze.

First we explored the museum. We went to the old street, the mummy's room, and the discovery room. It was very appealing for all of us.

Next we had lunch by the fountain. After that we listened to Anthony and he told us some stories about myths and legends. The trip was very interesting because we found out a lot of things that we didn't know before such as what Fred and Myrtle's favourite shell was!

Crusaders' night success

What a great night at the rugby! The Crusaders held out for a win 23-22 over the Warratahs in the last seconds of the game. One section of the stand was particularly vocal with their support!
