Plant field trip (Max & John)
Yesterday the middle school went on a field trip to an insect lab. We looked at the wasps and they were very small. We also learnt a fact about one of the biggest insects. Its leg to its body is 1/2 a meter long and its about 3 meters long. Then we went to the Field Trial and looked at how they are studying the soil. They use this thing where it see’s how much water there is in the soil and how much carbon comes from the ground. It was an exciting day.

Museum Trip (John)
Last Friday we had our chance to go back in time to the Canterbury Museum. There were five people in my group including our parent helper Sophia. The bus picked us up at 9am and it took about 40 to 50 minutes to get to the museum. It felt like much longer though. When we finally got there, there wasn't a single cloud in the sky but the wind chilled us to the bone.
First we walked through this hallway where there was a recreation of an old Canterbury street.
Second we went to the Antarctic room and saw a lot of machines like a motorised sled and a snowmobile. It was really fun sitting on it because there was a big screen and it felt like you were actually riding on the snow. We also saw models of people with huskies and sleds. Finally we went into the kiwiana section and saw a lot of things like buzzy bees and the Paua House. For me the highlight was watching the movie in the Paua house because it was very interesting and cool to see how they polished the paua on the grinder.
Overall it was an awesome trip to the museum.

Tramping Postcard
Dear Mr T,
I am writing this postcard to you from the Packhorse hut up in the port hills.
I have been here since yesterday afternoon with my family. So far the weather has been very windy and cold. The best thing is I brought my kite up here and it is a very good day to fly my kite. On the other hand, I've got very chilly fingers and I hope they don't go numb writing this letter.
I hope you are having a fantastic holiday too.
Best wishes,
John.

Lucy's Team
We first made the marble castle together. The marble castle had a shoot for the marble to run through. We all tried to put up a tent. We had different roles and worked together well.
Our team had to make up a game using certain objects, we all enjoyed it and had fun.
We had a go at trying to put a 300 piece puzzle
adding to what the other teams had done.
Throughout the day we did really well and worked as a team.
