Plants Filed Trip (Sophie R and Zarah)
Yesterday the middle school went on a field trip to Plant and Food Research. We got slit into two groups one was with Mrs Taylor and the other group was with Mr T and Rachel. First off we had a walk around the Mahoe research to find out about plants. Next we droped off the insect people and then we went to the farm to learn about special kinds of potatoes. We also learnt how to make crispy chips and french fries. The highlights for us was learning about plants. It was a very interesting trip.

Soccer Tournament (Graeson & Sophie R.)
Yesterday we went to Burmham to play in a soccer tournament. My team was the A team and we had 11 games in total. We had one draw and lost the other games even though we tried our best. The B team won two but lost five games. For the last game Mr T made a team out of the B team and the A team which we won. At the end of each game we shook hands with the other team and said, "Thanks for the game" to show our good sportsmanship. I think that with every game we played we got better and better. Next year we would like to make a stronger defense.

Museum Trip (SophieR.)
Last Friday we went to the amazing Canterbury museum. The weather was fine with a light breeze. There were 5 people in my group. We left from school on the bus at 9 AM.
First, we went to the old Christcurch streets and we got to ride on the horse and the penny farthing. We also got to see what the olden days clothing and hairstyles. The old toys were also interesting.
After that, we had a break and went climbing the big trees. I found a big gap and Mr T was very surprised to see me up there. When we went inside, we played a matching game and learnt about kiwiana icons. We also went to visit the amazing Paua house. Fred and Myrtle must have spent years collecting and polishing those shells.
Then we watched a movie about the Paua house and we learnt that Fred collected the shells but left them lying around on the floor. So Murtle started hanging them up on the walls.
We all had an awesome day and hope to go back there another day!

The Sad Day Postcard
Dear Mr T
I am writing this postcard to you from home. My family from Australia has been here since Wednesday last week. So far the weather has been bad because it has been raining all week. However one good thing about it is that I get to play with my cousin. On the other hand my Grandad passed so we had to have a funeral. It was a sad day for us. I hope you are having a great holiday in the north Island.
Best wishes,
Sophie R

Dear Trina
Thank you very much for coming to our camp and helping with everything.
We really appreciated your help with making sure we got to sleep, supervising us on the walk and driving us safely to camp.
I had a wonderful time on camp. Some of the highlights for me were the monorail, archery and low ropes.
Once again thanks very much for everything you did. It really was amazing with you and if you did not come we wouldn't have been able to go!
Your sincerely,
Sophie.

We had to work together on all of these. Our best work was the marble castle we had a high drop, then it rolled into a space, were it would come to a stop.
